Why Pressure Relief Device(PRD) for Oil Filled Transformer? The winding of the transformer is housed in the transformer oil tank. The oil is used in … Read more
An electrical machine converts mechanical energy into electrical energy or vice versa. The transformer is also an electrical machine which transform the voltage without changing the frequency. We will discuss about the;
Why Pressure Relief Device(PRD) for Oil Filled Transformer? The winding of the transformer is housed in the transformer oil tank. The oil is used in … Read more
This article describes why DC is not used in transformers. The transformer functions on the principle of Faraday’s Law of electromagnetic induction. When AC is … Read more
Induction motor as a rotating transformer: The rotor of the squirrel cage induction motor is short-circuited by end rings. When a three-phase supply is fed to … Read more
An induction motor is called an asynchronous motor because the actual speed of the motor is not equal to the synchronous speed of the motor. The synchronous … Read more
A rotating magnetic field is produced when the three-phase supply is fed to the stator. The magnetic field travels the air gap length and cuts … Read more
Synchronous Speed When three phases which are 120 degree-electrical apart are fed to the stator winding of the induction motor, a rotating magnetic field is … Read more
A rotating magnetic field is produced when three phase supply is fed to stator of an induction motor. The rotating magnetic field has constant magnitude … Read more
The transformer transforms voltage from one level to another without changing the power and frequency. The transformer is static electrical equipment, and it does not … Read more
What is an Ideal Transformer? An ideal transformer is free from all losses. It has zero copper and iron loss and zero leakage flux, and … Read more
The HV and LV winding is wound around the central limb. The central limb carries the entire flux (Ф ). The flux (Ф ) divides into two equal part and thus each side limbs carries the half (Ф/2 ) of the total flux(Ф ). As a result, cross section area of the central limb is two times of the side limbs area.The arrangement of the winding around the central limb is as given below.
